Founder
Michael founded Beta Asia with a vision for democratising wealth management with cutting edge fintech. A banking veteran since 1997, Michael was the CEO of BNP Paribas WM in HK, overseeing 400 professionals and AUM of USD50 billion. He held leadership positions at Standard Chartered Bank, Royal Bank of Canada, Credit Suisse and Credit Agricole Indosuez earlier in his career. Always active in the financial industry, Michael served on the Executive Committee of the Private Wealth Management Association, and was a Board Director of the Credit Reference Platform Limited. A Chartered Financial Analyst, Michael is currently a Level 3 Exam Grader and Reviewer, a trustee of HKUST, and a Founding Board Member of the HKUST Foundation. He holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and HKUST, and a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Law with First Class Honours from the University of Wales, UK.
Chief Technology Officer
KH is an IT specialist with 30+ years’ experience in fintech and financial services, specializing in AI, digital transformation, and emerging technologies. As Chief Digital & Information Officer at UBS Wealth Management, he pioneered generative AI and Web3 solutions to enhance client-advisor engagement. At Deloitte, he led large-scale digital transformations for Asia-Pacific financial institutions. His expertise spans open banking, blockchain, and intelligent automation, with a track record of bridging technical innovation and business strategy across firms like Standard Chartered, Mizuho, and Merrill Lynch. Since Mar 2025 he is the co-chair (banking & finance committee) of the Artificial Intelligence Association of Hong Kong, driving collaboration amongst banks, fintech companies and regulators and shaping Hong Kong’s AI roadmap. Fluent in English, Chinese and Malay, KH holds a BSc in IT and certifications from MIT and CFTE. A visionary leader, he drives future-ready finance through scalable, tech-driven solutions.
Chief Legal Officer
Saniza Othman started her career in legal services in London, focusing on intellectual property, e-contracts and publishing. After moving to Hong Kong in 2001, she worked in BNP Paribas (legal and transaction management) and Credit Suisse (derivatives and structured products). She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the HK Institute of Arbitrators, and an accredited member of the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration panel. Saniza holds an LL.M from HKU with Distinction, and LL.B with honours from the University of Wales. In addition to being a Judge Arbitrator and Mediator in various mediation and ADR Mooting competitions, Saniza is also active in art and community service. She is an elected board member of HKU’s Faculty of Arts, a council member of Asia Society HK Arts and Culture Council, and an Executive Committee member of the Malaysia Chamber of Commerce. Born and raised in Tokyo, Saniza is fluent in English, Malay and Indonesian.
